Irish Regulators Investigate X for Potential DSA Violations
Irish media regulator Coimisiún na Meán has launched a formal investigation into social media platform X over potential breaches of the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA). The probe focuses on content moderation transparency and user redress mechanisms, with fines of up to 6% of annual turnover possible for non-compliance.
The DSA mandates robust complaint-handling systems where users can appeal moderation decisions. Executive Vice-President Virkkunen emphasized that while automated moderation is permitted, platforms must disclose its use and accuracy. The investigation follows concerns raised by nonprofit HateAid regarding X's compliance framework.
